Hi! My name is Dr. Genevieve Mackenzie.
I started my life on a small island in the Caribbean called Curacao. I struggled early on in school. I couldn't maintain focus and absorb anything my teachers were saying. As a result, I didn't learn anything, and upon returning to my homeland of Canada, I was diagnosed with ADHD as well as learning disabilities.
"Exploring new places, gaining new perspectives."
School continued to be a struggle for me, but I slowly began to reach my peers' progress. By the end of elementary school, I passed all my classes and was academically successful. I was able to continue on my path toward academic success. I completed a doctorate on ADHD and executive function, earning a full scholarship to the University of Toronto.
"In the cockpit, just like in coaching—always focused and ready for the next step."
I have several scholarly publications and have written two fictional books on ADHD. The one book is for children with ADHD struggling with friendships. You can find the link here. The other book centers on youth and the scope of their experiences with ADHD. You can find the link here. My love of writing demonstrated that the core of my passion was the desire to help people struggling with this diagnosis. Because of this revolution, I was led to learn to become an ADHD coach. I feel the different perspectives I have garnered have helped me develop a 360-degree view of the obstacles that come to the surface when you have an ADHD diagnosis.
I want to use my personal experience and education to coach individuals struggling with ADHD. I hope to use the knowledge on ADHD that I have gained from completing a doctorate, becoming an ADHD coach, and having lived experience.
